R.A. Shaw Designs has been providing full architectural services in the Turks & Caicos Islands since 1998. Our market niche is custom-designed single family homes, with a keen emphasis on capturing the uniqueness of open tropical living that marries structure to topography, leisure space to panorama, and ventilation to comforting trade winds. Our design staff participates in the management of all projects in our design-build phased approach to project development, resulting in a team with extensive practical knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the development cycle.

Every design is based on a rich background of practical field experiences. Ronald A. Shaw, Canadian born and educated, brings 16 years of experience in the design and construction of commercial and residential projects in Southern Ontario prior to arriving in the Turks & Caicos Islands in 1996. His initial task here in the TCI, construction management of the first 27 unit building of the Crystal Bay residential condominium project at Northwest point, responsible for all design and construction procurement. Aside from the many single family homes designed and constructed in the islands, he provided preliminary conceptual designs and acquired Outline Development approvals for the Yacht Club at Turtle Cove, Somerset on Grace Bay, and the West Caicos Development. His most outstanding accomplishment to date is the complete design and construction of the Emerald Cay project at the tip of the Silly Creek peninsula. The Emerald Cay mansion is one of the most sophisticated and technologically advanced luxury residences in the Caribbean.

Our mission is to provide unique tropical designs with form and function totally based on our tropical climate, topography, and delicate ecosystem. Our philosophy is to design buildings with a team of professionals that are engaged in the design, and continue with the responsibility of managing the construction phase of development. We believe the result is a structure that is completed to higher levels of quality, and accuracy, while maintaining full respect for design function, architectural detail, and control of development cost.
